What is Deep InSecurity aiming at?
Deep InSecurity is an independent publication which aims to provide academically grounded knowledge on security issues and international relations in a schematic, clear and easily accessible format so that the readers can develop their own critical thinking about today’s geopolitical phenomena.
Why "Deep InSecurity"?
I was taught in sociology classes that there is no singular reality, but rather a subjective and multifaceted understanding of the world shaped by individual perspectives.
This concept challenges the notion of absolute truth and emphasises the importance of recognising different perspectives to gain a more comprehensive understanding of social phenomena.
While pondering a suitable name for the website, I aimed to avoid anything commonplace.
While considering several options, the realization struck me that merging the words “in” and “security” in the phrase Deep In Security could yield a dual interpretation:
Deep InSecurity
This insight sparked the idea of incorporating a symbol to accentuate this wordplay, allowing the reader to choose between the two possible meanings.
Since the purpose of the publication is to promote critical thinking and, consequently, also to stimulate different opinions regarding a given issue, I thought it was an ideal name.
How the Website is Organised 🗂️
Over time, as the platform grows, it will expand its content to encompass both theoretical-academic perspectives on security and concise analyses of security challenges within specific countries.
Consequently, the website will follow two distinct yet interconnected paths in comprehending security concerns:
- The first involves a somewhat abstract exploration, delving into the subject from a theoretical standpoint. Hence, the dedicated Theory section will delve into a comprehensive examination of theoretical security challenges. The conceptual frameworks established in this section will subsequently find practical application through real-world case studies, bridging the gap between theoretical understanding and practical implementation.
- Accordingly, the second approach adopts a more empirical stance, focusing on the tangible security challenges that impact countries and regions. The World section of the platform will therefore engage in periodic analyses of different security-related aspects in various countries, offering concrete and valuable knowledge to understand the complex dynamics at play in various geopolitical contexts.
By navigating these dual trajectories, the site aims to offer a comprehensive and holistic perspective on security matters, catering to both the academic curiosity of theoretical explorations and the practical considerations of real-world security issues affecting nations and thus citizens globally.
